Position Overview
Provide personal financial counseling and management services to military service members and families at military installations, including one‑on‑one sessions, briefings, presentations, and referrals. Coordinate program activities and use virtual and electronic communication tools as authorized.
Responsibilities- Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
- Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
- Develop and provide informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and deliver Personal Financial Management classes and workshops across the military lifecycle.
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling and electronic communication modes; authorized by the OSD FINRED Program Office.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocol.
- Communicate with leadership, participate in supervision, and share information on trends and issues.
- Participate in training, quality‑improvement committees, and other contract activities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required (associate degree + 4 years of experience or high school diploma + 6 years of experience may be considered).
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
- Obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
- Financial counseling work experience.
- Preferred additional education and/or professional certifications beyond those required.
Base salary range: $58,440 – $93,500 (may vary by location). Eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, voluntary, and other benefits.
