Job Description

Summary:

The Payroll Specialist (Hybrid-Minium One Day in Office per Week) is responsible for overseeing payroll processing and managing tax-related functions within the organization. This role encompasses payroll preparation and tax compliance, including processing payroll, verifying data, reconciling records, and ensuring adherence to tax regulations. The Payroll Specialist will also prepare and file tax returns, analyze financial data, and stay current on relevant tax legislation to ensure compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)

• Prepare and process payroll and associated information.
• Collate, verify, and input payroll data into the payroll system.
• Update payroll records and process routine changes to employee records.

• Reconcile Quarterly and Annual payroll tax statements, and other required reports for local, state, and federal levels.
• Examine, analyze, and interpret accounting and financial records to prepare payroll tax reports and provide recommendations.
• Determine and calculate payroll tax implications; develop strategies for minimizing tax liability.
• Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll tax legislation to ensure compliance.
• Prepare paperwork and documentation for payroll tax submissions.
• Full proficiency in payroll tax disciplines.
• Perform basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle.
• Respond to pay-related inquiries from staff and resolve errors or omissions.
• Prepare and submit required reports and forms to IRS and other regulatory bodies.

• Provide support and recommendations for payroll and tax-related issues as needed.
• Follow all processing procedures and adhere to company policies.
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll and tax information.

• Proficient in payroll processing and tax reporting.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial records.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
• Proficiency in relevant payroll and accounting software.
• Proficient with Workday Payroll and ADP Smart Compliance.

• Bachelor’s degree is required but may be substituted with two years of related experience for each year of education.
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in payroll and tax functions.
