Finance Manager / Controller (Manufacturing) | Georgia, USA
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager / Controller to lead financial operations, cost accounting, reporting, and strategic financial planning for a growing manufacturing organization in Georgia, USA.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including General Ledger, AP, AR, payroll accounting, and month-end close.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Oversee bank, inventory, fixed asset, accrual, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and accounting partners.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing cost accounting systems and processes.
- Monitor raw material costs, overhead allocation, scrap, waste, and variance analysis.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation for raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and packaging materials.
- Partner with operations teams to improve production efficiency and profitability.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Build financial models to support growth initiatives, capital investments, and workforce planning.
- Analyze budget vs. actual performance and provide actionable business insights.
- Develop and track KPIs related to manufacturing performance, margins, inventory, and operating expenses.
- Support pricing strategy, customer profitability analysis, and product margin reviews.
- Manage cash forecasting and funding requirements.
- Monitor inventory, receivables, payables, and working capital performance.
- Support banking relationships, financing activities, investor reporting, and board reporting.
- Strengthen purchasing, approval, and expense management controls.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Manage documentation related to grants, tax incentives, R&D credits, and capital investment programs.
- Develop scalable internal controls to support company growth.
- Assist with insurance renewals, asset management, and risk mitigation activities.
- Evaluate and optimize ERP, accounting, inventory, and manufacturing systems.
- Improve workflows across purchasing, inventory, production, invoicing, and reporting.
- Create dashboards and reporting tools for leadership teams.
- Build a finance function capable of supporting future growth, audits, and fundraising initiatives.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
- 7–10 years of accounting and finance experience
- 5+ years in manufacturing, industrial, chemical, materials, or process-driven production environments
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and month-end close processes
- Experience with:
Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Standard Costing, Manufacturing Variance Analysis - Proven ability to thrive in a startup or high-growth environment
- Knowledge of Georgia state tax regulations, sales/use tax, property tax, and manufacturing incentives is a plus
- Hands‑on finance leader
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to partner cross‑functionally with operations and executive leadership
- Process improvement mindset with experience building scalable systems
