Information Systems Security Officer II; ISSO II Security Clearance

Job Overview

This position requires a TS/SCI Clearance and Special Access Program Experience. The ISSO is responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for an information system and works in close collaboration with the ISSM and ISO. The role includes managing security aspects, day-to-day security operations of a system, physical/environmental protection, personnel security, incident handling, and security training. The position supports SAPs for DoD agencies and provides day-to-day support for SCI activities.

• Assist the ISSM in meeting their duties and responsibilities.
• Prepare, review, and update authorization packages.
• Ensure approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying hardware and media.
• Notify ISSM of changes that may affect authorization determination.
• Conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with the security authorization package.
• Coordinate hardware/software/firmware changes with the ISSM and AO/DAO before implementation.
• Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures are restored.
• Maintain up-to-date, accessible security-related documentation.
• Collect, review, and document audit records, including anomalies.
• Attend required technical and security training (e.g., operating systems, networking, security management).
• Execute cyber security portion of self-inspection, including coordination and review of system assessment plans.
• Identify vulnerabilities and assist with implementing countermeasures.
• Prepare reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems.
• Perform ISSO duties in support of in-house and external customers.
• Conduct security impact analysis activities and provide findings to the ISSM on all configuration management changes.

• 2–5 years of related experience in roles such as System, Network Administrator, or ISSO.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (4 years).
• Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01‑M for Information Assurance Technician Level II or Information Assurance Manager II within 6 months of hire.
• Current Top‑Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility and eligibility for access to SAP Information.
• Willingness to submit to a counter‑intelligence polygraph.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
