IT Project Manager
Job Description
The Deputy Director of Application Support & Development will lead enterprise technology functions by setting direction, guiding execution, and ensuring effective delivery of digital services that support organizational priorities. This role partners with stakeholders to drive innovation, strengthen governance, and enhance service quality while building team capability and maintaining a strong focus on accountability, resilience, and continuous improvement. This position will report directly to the Information Technology Services Assistant Director.
EssentialDuties
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for enterprise solutions and application development teams across Public Safety, Permitting and Regulatory, Web, Geospatial, and Application Development domains
- Develop and manage an IT solutions strategic plan, prioritizing initiatives to maximize operational efficiency, business value, and innovation.
- Oversee solution design, development, implementation, integration, and lifecycle management of enterprise software and digital services.
- Analyze departmental needs, recommend technology solutions, and ensure alignment with enterprise objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain project management processes, resource planning, and quality assurance practices to ensure timely, reliable solution delivery.
- Oversee vendor and contract management for application and solution services.
- Serve on the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and ensure solution updates, releases, and enhancements follow controlled processes.
- Ensure solutions support business continuity, disaster recovery, and risk management requirements.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across all solution delivery teams.
- Mentor and develop team leaders and staff to build organizational capacity and succession pipelines.
- Represent the department in cross‑functional meetings, committees, and external engagements as required.
- Monitor compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and risk management practices.
Job Requirements / Information
- This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting.
- This job may require on‑call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Bachelor's Degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND
- Nine years of progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment, including two years at the Division Director level.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Master's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND
- Ten years of progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment, including two years at the Division Director level.
304. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
