Supervisor of Material Handling
Job DescriptionDuties:
- Supervise a group of wage grade employees performing delivery, receipt, storage, and distribution of material including non-standard specialized material.
- Maintain accountability to management for the quantity and quality of the work done and ensure efficient and economical work operations.
- Assign, direct, and review the work of subordinates and evaluate work performance.
- Determine material, equipment, and facilities needed and solve problems related to the work supervised.
- Supervise work of employees who receive, process, stow, pick, manifest, identify, physically move, unpack and repack material for storage or issue using mechanized, automated, and manual material moving equipment, devices, and systems.

Qualifications:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying.
Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and that you have the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
