About the Role
The purpose of the Registered Nurse Clinician - Home IV is to provide medically prescribed infusion therapy to patients with acute and chronic conditions in the home or ambulatory setting.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturdays as needed.
Service Areas:
Warner Robins, GA, Milledgeville, GA, Perry, GA, and Macon, GA.
Experience/
Education:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state(s) of practice.
- 1 year of nursing experience in a clinical specialty involving infusion therapy.
- BLS or obtain upon hire.
- Proficient at partner programs (i.e.: MS Outlook, Word,Excel).
- Ability to cope with ambiguous, changing environment while under pressure in a calm manner.
- Must be able to work as a team member and develop productive and cooperative working relationships with all members of the Palmetto Infusion team.
- Work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team in a home setting or ambulatory infusion clinic.
- Effectively utilize the nursing process to assess and care for patients.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care in a professional, ethical, knowledgeable, and compassionate manner.
- Provide disease and drug specific education to patients and caregivers.
- Comply with HIPAA and ACHC regulations.
- Travel to patient homes and deliver care according to plan of care and providers orders.
- Travel to outlying clinics as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of medical/nursing practices by participating in educational in-services.
- Work on a as needed basis according to patient volume in home infusion. Director will coordinate schedule and needs.
- Provide safe and competent care while in the home or ambulatory setting at all times upholding the Palmetto Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Accurately perform all nursing duties according to the state nurse practice act while adhering to company policies and procedures including, but not limited to:
- Accessing and maintaining ports, peripheral lines, PICC lines, Midline, Broviac according to INS Standards.
- Obtaining lab specimens.
- Collecting vital signs and ongoing monitoring of the patient.
- Safely administer intravenous infusion and injectable medications as ordered by prescribing physicians.
- Documenting patient care appropriately and legible.
- Responding to and accurately reporting adverse drug reactions to the Director of Home Infusion.
- Assisting with administrative duties as needed, such as scan charts, call patients, review labs,etc.
- Document according to DHEC and ACHS compliance measures.
- Follow Bag Technique and standard precautions while in the home setting.
- Follow Hazardous Drug spill according to provided training annually and OSHA regulations.
- Notify MD and assist in coordination of care in the event of emergency or urgent matter while in the home.
