The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community.

This position is located at Randolph Correctional Center #4445, Asheboro, NC. Randolph Correctional Center is a minimum-custody prison housing male offenders. Randolph Correctional serves as the hub for healthcare for the male offender population. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 254 offenders. Positions at this level perform comprehensive, complex, professional-level nursing work in providing primary, preventive, and rehabilitative care to offenders in a correctional setting.

Nurse Supervisor I is responsible for ensuring professional nursing care and treatment is afforded to patients within medical policies, protocols, and consistent with Board of Nursing requirements.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direct supervision of nursing staff to include staff schedules, assignments, orientation, performance improvement evaluations, and clinical competency evaluations. The Nurse Supervisor I supervises, conducts need assessments, develops, implements, and evaluates treatment plans, and provides patient care and education to offenders.
