The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University was founded nearly 200 years ago in 1828 as the nation's fifth public medical school. It is the state's flagship medical school and Augusta University's founding school. The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia houses several key research resources, including the Transgenic and Genome Editing Core, the Viral Vector Core, and a state-of-the-art microscopy facility.

This facility features advanced imaging technologies such as multiphoton confocal microscopes, an N-STORM super-resolution microscope, light-sheet microscopes, and imaging flow cytometry, supporting cutting-edge research in cellular and molecular neuroscience.

Conduct research on Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models. Performs drug treatment and behavioral test to mice. Develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it. Performs a standardized protocol collecting mouse specimens including brain and other peripheral organs, preparing these samples for histology and molecular/biochemical analysis. Perform stereotactic surgery. Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures.

Primary cell culture, histology, and imaging of mouse nervous system tissue. Managing transgenic mouse colony and performing small animal surgical and behavioral procedures. Identifies and implements experimental and analytical pipeline improvements and refinements. Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation by providing figures, methods, and technical expertise.

The duties include but are not limited to:

CONDUCTS RESEARCH:

PERFORMS PROCEDURES:

Identifies and implements experimental and analytical pipeline improvements and refinements.

PREPARES RESEARCH PAPERS:
Prepares and submits papers on research. Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation by providing figures, methods, and technical expertise. Mentor junior lab members and promote a collaborative, high-performance lab culture. Following instructions and discussions with the principal investigator, designs research protocols, including developing procedures for the collection, verification and management of data.

OTHER:
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or a clinical setting particularly clinical trials research and minimum of two years of applicable experience.

KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
