Hours:
40 per week. Minimum Salary: $49,435.00/Annually. Maximum Salary: $79,283.00/Annually. Scheduled Days: 200. Target Openings: 7.
- Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Law Enforcement certification.
- Pass a criminal history, psychological, and polygraph test.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license.
- Associate’s Degree in a related field required.
- Must obtain an Associate’s Degree within three years of hire date.
- 5 years of law enforcement experience required.
- Effective and tactful communication with others.
- Active listening and responsive to others’ needs.
- Ability to work in a school environment with students, educators, and citizens.
- Ability to teach courses related to drugs, law enforcement, citizenship, criminal justice, safety, crime prevention, and law.
- Assist a school cluster in providing a safe and secure environment for students.
- Provide administrators and personnel with resources to operate a safe and secure school.
- Deliver in-service training to help administrators handle security-related matters.
- Act as liaison/facilitator between schools and local law enforcement agencies.
- Coordinate law enforcement efforts of the local jurisdiction relative to schools.
- Work within a school cluster.
- Develop a communication network among administration, staff, students, parents, and citizens.
- Serve as a positive role model to bridge the gap between students and law enforcement.
- Maintain knowledge of procedures for dealing with public agencies that enter schools to deliver subpoenas, interview students/teachers, and arrest individuals.
- Reduce juvenile delinquency by fostering positive relationships between youth and law enforcement.
- Take law enforcement action as necessary to protect against unwanted intruders.
- Assist proactively in developing plans for a safe school environment for staff and students.
- Facilitate completion of safety and security assessments and plans for improvement and emergency plans.
- Plan and conduct emergency drills on a routine basis.
- Set and reset fire alarms for drills or real emergencies.
- Advise on appropriate law enforcement measures when an incident violates the law.
- Be available for conferences and consultations with students, parents, and staff on law enforcement or crime prevention matters.
- Provide referrals to other agencies within the school system and the community.
- Create and maintain written case files of criminal acts by students and report instances of deprived, abused, or neglected children.
- Share information with administrators, school social workers, law enforcement and judiciary agencies, and the Department of Family and Child Services (DFACS) as appropriate.
The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands to touch, handle, or feel, reaches with hands and arms, and talks or hears. The employee occasionally sits, climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, or crouches. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. The employee must operate a motor vehicle in the performance of duties.
Exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions may occur. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock is possible. Noise level is usually moderate.
