Job Summary
The Manager of Research Security is responsible for developing and implementing security protocols to protect sensitive research data and facilities. They ensure compliance with security measures and standards, provide leadership for the security team, conduct performance assessments, and support incident response and risk mitigation.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures to safeguard research data and facilities from unauthorized access.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor security incidents and breaches, conduct thorough investigations, and coordinate response efforts to mitigate risks.
- Provide training and awareness programs to staff on security best practices and information safeguarding.
- Maintain relationships with law‑enforcement and security agencies to enhance the organization’s security posture.
- Prepare and present reports on security incidents, risks, and compliance to senior management and stakeholders.
- Evaluate and recommend security technologies and solutions to improve overall security infrastructure.
- Stay current with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to research security.
- Collaborate with Information Technology and research teams to integrate security protocols into research processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master’s Degree in a related discipline is preferred.
- Five or more years of relevant experience, including three or more years of supervisory experience.
- Prior proven experience with Special Access Programs Management, Joint Access Database Environment, or Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI).
- Position is supervisory and considered a position of trust.
- Travel and driving responsibilities are required.
- Security clearance is required.
- No purchasing card (P‑Card) is required.
- Salary range: $106,371 – $179,767; depends on experience and skills.
