Technician (Associate, Level I) Position
Colonial Pipeline is looking for a Technician to help maintain and repair industrial systems across its pipeline network. Candidates may start as an Associate Technician and progress through the Nex Gen Technician Training Program, gaining hands‑on experience and advancing within the company.
Responsibilities- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Support emergency response efforts and maintain related equipment.
- Manage parts requisitions and assist with budget tracking.
- Complete documentation for DOT compliance and internal reporting.
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Ideally 1+ years of industrial‑related experience in a technical or operations (mechanical or electrical) field.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive company or personal vehicles for material pickup and travel.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends, call‑out, and occasional overtime.
- Ability to complete Nex Tech Skill Sets I and II.
- Mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic.
- Critical thinking skills and sound decision‑making ability.

- Additional qualifications (optional):
Apprentice program completion, Associate or Technical degree, 3+ years industrial field operations experience, 2+ years as a mechanical/electrical technician, 1+ year as a pipeline technician. - HAZWOPER training and forklift licensing or other state licenses.
- Work indoors and outdoors at all hours in all weather conditions near refined petroleum products and heavy equipment.
- Physical mobility to sit, stand, reach, pull, push, and bend.
- Lift up to 75 lbs unassisted.
- Work in non‑permit required confined spaces.
- Use two‑way radio for verbal communication.
- Traverse uneven terrain and climb tank steps up to 60 ft, as well as vertical ladders to valve platforms.
- Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain normal visual acuity of 20/40 or better (corrected).
- Distinguish colors, especially red, green, white, and black, for control panel indicator lights.
- Detect the presence of petroleum products by smell.
