The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, leads the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, manages refrigeration units, and coordinates field teams to optimize system performance. The position requires detailed documentation, vendor coordination, and adherence to regulatory codes. Additionally, the Senior Technician provides hands‑on training, supports critical business needs through on‑call duties, and drives continuous improvement by evaluating new technologies and refining operational processes to meet evolving organizational goals.

The Facility Services HVAC/Refrigeration team ensures the reliable operation and maintenance of Walmart’s mechanical systems through expert diagnostics, preventive care, and timely repairs. Team members apply technical skills to resolve equipment issues while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. They collaborate with management and external partners to optimize maintenance schedules and compliance. Focused on continuous improvement, the team supports operational excellence by following company policies and safety protocols, contributing to a secure and efficient environment for associates and customers across Walmart locations.
Whatyou'll do:
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units.
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues to ensure optimal system performance.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Manage refrigerant handling, inventory control, and vendor relationships in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands‑on training and evaluating technician skill development.
- Participate in on‑call rotations to support critical business needs outside regular hours.
- Maintain company vehicles and ensure adherence to safety and operational policies.
- Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and control panels.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant‑related issues in commercial and industrial settings.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands‑on training and performance feedback.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
- Proficiency in managing parts inventory, vendor relationships, and coordinating service calls to meet business priorities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to support process improvements and workforce development.
- Ability to operate company vehicles safely and maintain required documentation.
