The Waitlist Specialist will assist candidates with locating appropriate housing and will process applications for municipal housing. Waitlist specialists conduct an eligibility assessment for each potential member and then identify any available housing. They familiarize clients with their rights and responsibilities as members of our co-ops and provide all necessary and beneficial applicable information.

- Interviews applicants and determines eligibility for housing programs.
- Sends required paperwork and explains the application process; verifies the accuracy of the information submitted.
- Maintains records, collecting and completing all required documentation.
- Explains housing authority regulations to applicants; facilitates and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
- Answers phone for Michigan region waitlist using CSI’s formatted script to ensure fair housing practices.
- Meets with walk-ins who are seeking housing
- Creates, updates, and stores CSI’s co-ops pre-applications and online paperwork as needed as a backup to Waitlist Supervisor
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements Work environmentWaitlist Specialists generally work in an office environment. This position requires sitting at a desk for extended periods of time and significant amount of time on the phone.
- Must be able to push/pull/lift up to 30 pounds.
- High School Diploma, equivalent experience or a combination of both
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work with the public under different levels of pressure
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Adobe
- Exceptional business communications (emails, letters and in-person)
- Excellent problem-solving skills
