Job Description SUMMARYPerforms confidential secretarial and clerical responsibilities necessary for an efficient and effective office, assisting the Administrator or designee and District staff in the performance of responsibilities to maintain a safe environment and provide effective clerical support.
QUALIFICATIONS- Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrate excellent secretarial skills, including at least 50 words per minute at the keyboard with a minimum number of errors, general bookkeeping skills, organizational and filing skills, and the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications.
- Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or an equivalent computer program.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette, with proper voice inflection.
- Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
- Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community, including difficult and emotional situations.
- Requires a strong comfort level around people of all different types of backgrounds and of young people of all ages.
- Greets, screens, assists and directs callers and visitors; responds to inquiries; provides information; takes and relays messages, etc.
- Must be able to consistently greet people warmly both in person and on the phone.
- Performs data entry functions
- Administers appropriate first aid and medication when needed.
- Operates standard office equipment.
- Performs other related functions as assigned or required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficient in use of a personal computer and related software. Ability to communicate clearly & concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
WORKING CONDITIONS Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to write, correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, parents and students.
Mathematical and Reasoning SkillsAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Work EnvironmentSubstitute’s work within an office setting and move about as needed. The job typically requires minimal physical exertion; may need to be on feet throughout the workday. May need to occasionally move about inside the office and building, push or lift equipment or boxes, travel to other buildings occasionally, require specific vision abilities, and meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
Noise level moderate to loud; duties performed primarily indoors.
