About the PositionThe Township Clerk is a statutory member of the Township Board and serves as:
- Chief Election Official for the Township
- Custodian of Official Records and Ordinances
- Secretary to the Township Board
- Financial Administrator responsible for warrants and recordkeeping
The Township Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring elections are conducted lawfully and efficiently, public records are properly maintained, and Township meetings and financial documentation comply with state law.
Minimum RequirementsBy law, the Township Clerk must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. Citizen, a registered voter in Waterford Township, and live in Waterford Township.
Core Responsibilities Include- Administering all federal, state, and local elections
- Managing voter registration and absentee ballot processes
- Maintaining custody of township records
- Preparing Board meeting agendas and minutes
- Signing warrants and maintaining financial records
- Filing oaths of office and required legal documents
The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail,professionalism, and a commitment to public service and transparency.
