The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of primary health and community programs and has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.
Administration Officer – Maternal Child HealthThe Administration Officer role will provide support and be the first point of contact for clients and staff at the SWAMS Kwilenup building (Eaton), always ensuring a professional and friendly manner is portrayed.
Responsibilities- Provide reception support for the MCH team.
- Update client data accurately through communication with clients at every visit.
- Assist with organisation and coordination of administrative activities for visiting specialists.
- Maintain relevant databases through accurate data entry and processing.
- Attend to the MCH administrative needs with SWAMS subsidy program; understand subsidy requirements, receive invoices, link with clinical staff for subsidy application, input data and send to accounts for payment.
- Provide administrative assistance and support for the MCH Coordinator and the Senior Child Health Nurse with contract reporting requirements.
- At least 12 months experience in an administration environment.
- Good computer skills and competency in all Microsoft programs.
- High level of customer service skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people.
- Organisational and time‑management skills with ability to adapt to changing needs.
- Experience in Community or Aboriginal Health.
- Successful completion of a medical reception or administration course.
- SWAMS Membership.
- Confirmation of Aboriginality from another Aboriginal‑owned Organisation that includes the Common Seal.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and contemporary issues affecting them.
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with communities, families, children and young people.
- Sound interpersonal skills and ability to proactively establish and sustain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to manage own time and work resources.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
