Staff Writer, Creative Arts​/Media

C & G Newspapers is looking for a full-time staff writer who can cover local government, schools, police and fire departments, and human interest features.

Candidates must be able to meet deadlines and manage time well in order to write several stories per week. A strong candidate will have a background in journalism and newspaper writing, and a fluency in Associated Press style. The ability to take some photos is a plus.

Reporters at C & G Newspapers are expected to be our team’s “boots on the ground” in the communities they cover. It is our philosophy that this job cannot be done from a desk. Reporters are expected to network with sources on their beats and build a list of contacts that facilitates the free flow of timely and accurate information. This is done by checking in regularly with sources, attending meetings, conducting in-person and phone interviews and spending time out in the field.

C & G employs a hybrid work model that fosters collaboration and allows flexibility through a mix of in-office and remote operation.
