* JOB SUMMARY:

** The Graduate Assistant (GA) for DAVID’s Club supports the development, promotion, and daily operations of a student-centered academic success initiative designed to help students build effective study habits, strengthen academic confidence, and persist toward graduation. This position plays an important role in fostering a supportive and welcoming environment where students can develop organizational skills, accountability, and peer connections while receiving encouragement throughout their academic journey.

DAVID’s Club is a free, structured study and peer mentorship program that emphasizes consistency, accountability, and community. Named after a student whose academic journey transformed from struggling to thriving through support services, the program is grounded in the belief that students achieve greater success when provided with accessible resources, meaningful support, and a sense of belonging. The Graduate Assistant will collaborate with university staff, peer mentors, and students to support student engagement initiatives, academic success programming, and retention-focused efforts while gaining valuable experience in student support services, leadership development, and higher education operations.

This appointment is for a maximum of two calendar years.

Flexible schedule based on departmental and academic needs.

Graduate Assistants are required to work a minimum of 10 hours per week. During the fall and winter semesters, work hours may not exceed 24 hours per week. During the spring and summer semesters, Graduate Assistants may work up to, but not exceed, 40 hours per week.

* ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

*** Assist in coordinating and facilitating weekly DAVID’s Club study sessions
* Provide one-on-one mentorship and academic support to participating students
* Manage program logistics including space reservations, materials preparation, and snack coordination
* Track student attendance and assist in monitoring scholarship eligibility requirements
* Develop and implement marketing and outreach strategies
* Create promotional materials including social media content, flyers, and email campaigns
* Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to recruit and support student participation
* Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and judgment-free environment for all students
* Support peer mentorship, accountability, and active group study engagement
* Connect students with additional academic and campus support resources as appropriate
* Maintain accurate program records and data tracking
* Assist with program assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts
* Identify and implement strategies to enhance student engagement and overall program effectiveness
* Perform other duties as assigned.
** SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
** General supervision is received from the Executive Director of Student Success

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

*** Bachelor's degree in related field
* Currently admitted to a graduate program or eligible and intending to apply upon accepting the offer. Graduate programs qualify for this position include:
Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), and Social Work (MSW).
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Interest in student support services, academic coaching, or peer mentorship
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
* Commitment to supporting diverse (first-generation and underserved) student populations
* Ability to effectively interact with diverse students, faculty, staff, and families
* Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
