Responsibilities
Teach courses in Health & Physical Fitness. Adjunct instructor positions are part-time. Teaching assignments vary from semester to semester and are based on enrollment, so there may be semesters with no assignments available. Evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments, and papers. Prepare and deliver instructional materials (syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts) in person and/or online. Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
Compile, administer, and grade examinations. Participate in required reporting processes (grades, participation, etc.). Assist students in connecting to college resources.
- Master’s degree or higher in Health and Physical Fitness, Nursing, Counseling, Psychology, Health Studies, Social Work, HPF, or a closely related field; OR a Master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate hours in Nursing, Counseling, Psychology, Health Studies, Social Work, HPF, or a closely related field; or a Master’s degree in any field with a Professional Counseling License (LPC) to teach Stress Management (HPF 277) and Managing Stress and Holistic Health (HPF 283).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, Counseling, Psychology, Health Studies, Social Work, HPF or a closely related field; or a Bachelor’s degree in any field plus 18 hours in Nursing, Counseling, Psychology, Health Studies, Social Work, HPF, or a closely related field to teach Wellness (HPF 160).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in HPF or related field and current CPR certification; OR a Bachelor’s degree in any field, certification in personal training, group fitness, or related area, 2 years of experience, and CPR certification to teach HPF 168, 186, and 268.
- 2 years of experience coaching golf and/or working as a golf professional and current CPR certification to teach HPF 110.
- Certification in a specific field/area (yoga, group cycling, or Aerobic Rhythms) and current CPR certification to teach HPF 119, 143, 141, and 169.
- 2 years of experience as a personal trainer or certified group fitness instructor and current CPR certification, or a Bachelor’s degree or higher in HPF and current CPR certification to teach HPF 161 (Personalized Fitness) or HPF 182 (Light Walking).
- 2 years of experience as a personal trainer, certified group fitness instructor, or track and field coach and a current CPR certification, or a Bachelor’s or higher in HPF and current CPR certification to teach HPF 187 (Interval Training).
- Master’s degree or higher in Sports Management, HPF, Business (MBA), or a closely related field or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Sports Management, HPF, business, or a closely related field to teach HPF 173 (Sport Matters).
