Job Summary
Lake Ville Community Schools seeks a highly motivated Middle School Science Teacher. The successful candidate will receive an annual salary in the range of $43,497 to $84,878, commensurate with education, skill level, and prior experience, along with a competitive fringe benefit package, including MESSA.
Minimum Qualifications- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree, a valid Michigan teaching certificate, and meeting Highly Qualified Requirements in Science.
- Teaching Certificate with at least one of the following endorsements:
Integrated Science (DI) or Science (DX) or DQ;
Physical Science (DP) or Earth Science (DH) or IH;
Biology (DA), Chemistry (DC) or IC;
Physics (DE) or IE. - ZC & ZK middle-level “all subjects” endorsements will also be considered.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administration, students, and parents.
- Excellent organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check as defined by the State of Michigan.
- Alternative qualifications acceptable to the Board of Education.
- Teach content using the courses of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Translate the curriculum into engaging and creative lesson plans that best utilize available instructional time.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of each learner.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Use district assessments along with summative and formative assessments to evaluate student academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate regularly with parents through phone calls, district student information systems, approved applications, district email, and other means.
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff to assess and help pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Select and requisition books, materials, and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
- Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Administer group standardized tests according to the district testing program.
- Participate in faculty committees and sponsor pupil activities.
- Develop and implement progressive classroom-based interventions grounded in MTSS.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical DemandsThe role requires frequent walking and standing; occasionally sitting, running, bending, twisting, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching above the head or forward, and repeating hand motions. Lifting or pushing up to 50 lbs may be required.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment is typically medium to loud. The employee must interact continuously with the public and other staff and may work irregular or extended hours.
