Middle School English Teacher

Job Summary

The Genesee School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Middle School English Teacher. This full-time position is designed for an educator who is committed to fostering a positive learning environment and inspiring students to develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will create engaging lesson plans, promote a love for literature, and support students in their academic and personal growth.

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with the curriculum and meet the diverse needs of students.
• Teach English language arts, including reading, writing, grammar, and literature, to middle school students.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback and support.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to engage students and enhance their learning experience.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in teaching methodologies.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
• Uphold the values and mission of the Genesee School District while promoting a safe and respectful learning environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field;
  Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid state teaching certification in English or Language Arts for middle school.
• Proven experience teaching middle school students, preferably in an English or language arts setting.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies for diverse learners.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to create a positive and engaging classroom environment that fosters student learning and growth.
• Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
• Passion for literature and a desire to inspire students to develop their reading and writing skills.
