Quality Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing)
We're hiring a Quality Engineer to support a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing partner in Warren, MI. This is a plant-facing role for someone who enjoys being on the floor, working directly with production teams, and driving fast, structured resolution to quality issues.
In this position, you’ll own day-to-day quality support, lead containment and corrective actions, and partner with customers and internal stakeholders to strengthen processes and prevent repeat issues. If you’re comfortable in a fast-paced environment and bring hands‑on experience with PPAP, SPC, and core automotive quality expectations, this is a strong opportunity to make an immediate impact.
What You’ll Do- Provide daily quality support for production and launch activities
- Lead issue containment, investigation, and follow-through to closure
- Prepare and support PPAP submissions (including PSWs and supporting documentation)
- Maintain and update Control Plans and support PFMEA updates as processes change
- Perform capability studies (Cp/Cpk) and apply basic statistical tools for special characteristics
- Serve as a customer‑facing point of contact for quality concerns and corrective action updates
- Write and submit 8D corrective actions and validate root cause and long‑term fixes
- Support internal and external audits, including layered process audits
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across quality and manufacturing
- 1+ year of quality experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of PPAP requirements and submission processes
- Experience using SPC or related quality data tools to monitor process performance
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specs, and inspection requirements
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 / ISO-based quality systems
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent hands‑on experience
- Customer‑facing quality experience (handling concerns, reporting, follow‑up)
- Hands‑on exposure to PFMEA, Control Plans, and inspection/measurement planning
- Experience with customer‑specific requirements (CSRs)
- Strong problem‑solving and statistical analysis skills
- Background supporting internal/customer audits and layered audits
This role is based in a manufacturing environment and requires time on the production floor. Physical requirements may include standing/walking for extended periods and lifting up to 25–50 lbs as needed.
