We are seeking an Electrical/Hardware Requirements Engineer to support mission-critical defense programs involving complex, multi-disciplinary systems. Job DescriptionWe are seeking an Electrical/Hardware Requirements Engineer to support mission-critical defense programs involving complex, multi-disciplinary systems. This role is ideal for an engineer who excels at translating operational needs into clear, testable requirements and can work independently while collaborating closely with systems, hardware, and test teams. Your work will directly contribute to the performance, reliability, and safety of systems supporting national defense.
Responsibilities- Develop, write, and refine system, subsystem, and component-level requirements in alignment with defense program standards and customer specifications.
- Create and maintain Use Cases, operational scenarios, and mission workflows to support system architecture and verification planning.
- Ensure requirements are clear, traceable, testable, and compliant with program and DoD standards.
- Support design and verification activities, including requirements decomposition, interface definition, and design review participation.
- Develop and refine test plans, acceptance criteria, and test procedures for hardware and system-level verification in lab and field environments.
- Identify required test equipment, instrumentation, and lab configurations to execute verification activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, hardware design, software, integration, and test.
- Prepare and deliver technical documentation and presentations for internal teams, leadership, and government customers.
- Work proactively with minimal oversight, identifying next steps and driving tasks to completion in a fast-paced defense program environment.
- Experience with writing or editing system, sub-system, and/or component specifications, functional requirements, and required capabilities.
- Experience creating and refining test cases.
- Control systems experience, familiar with circuit board layouts, functional capabilities, ECUs, LRUs, design and verification.
- Proficiency in requirements management, use cases, test plans, design and verification.
- Troubleshooting skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- Identify gaps within requirements.
- Experience with control units, specifically building out a Transmission Control Unit working with soldiers on use cases.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, MI.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52.88 - $67.31/hr.
