Position Summary

Mission Technologies is seeking an experienced Physical Science Technician who will support our Petroleum Lab at Gound Vehicle System Center at Detriot Arsenal in Warren, MI. HII's Mission Technologies Division, has over 100 facilities worldwide and provides capabilities to support an all‑domain force that includes artificial intelligence and machine learning, autonomous systems, critical nuclear operations, LVC systems, cyberspace strategies, and platform modernization.

This position requires onsite work at The United States Army Ground Vehicle System Center GVSC located in Warren, MI.

  • Perform laboratory analysis on a wide range of petroleum, oil, and lubricant (POL) products, such as aviation fuels, diesel fuels, gasolines, lubricants, greases, coolants, hydraulic fluids, and solid film lubricants.
  • Execute standardized testing protocols in strict accordance with ASTM International, SAE International, Federal Test Methods, and other relevant methodologies tailored to specific product and project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management Standards, completing all testing activities with precision, traceability, and adherence to Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Achieve and maintain technical proficiency by completing required training and attaining “Trained” or “Expert” status on applicable test methods and instrumentation.
  • Support end‑to‑end laboratory operations, including sample intake and logging, work order creation, report generation, consumable inventory, safety data sheet (SDS) updates, and waste management in alignment with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Complete all mandatory training related to but not limited to laboratory operations, including testing procedures, safety protocols, quality assurance, and environmental compliance.
  • Participate in laboratory audits to include safety, quality, and environmental, upon request.
  • Conduct routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance by rigorously following protocols for the handling, storage, and labeling of chemicals and materials in accordance with SOPs and regulatory standards.
