Morton Salt is looking for an Engineering Intern to help in the operations of our Manistee, MI evaporation production facility. The Engineering Intern will have projects assigned accordingly based on the needs of the facility.
Duties & Responsibilities- Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Promote a safe plant environment by actively participating in meetings, encouraging employees to identify and report safety concerns, and addressing safety issues in a timely manner.
- Support environmental compliance by completing assigned duties on a scheduled basis.
- Provide daily support to maintenance in the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment.
- Assist with the automation of the collection of process data and provide analysis as required.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance to digitalize equipment records and to improve the quality of PM’s.
- Support the development of digitalized LOTO procedures.
- Execute assigned projects from conceptualization to startup.
- Become familiar with automation systems such as Emerson Delta V, RS Logix, and OSI PI.
- Perform special assignments as requested.
- Is familiar with the Environmental Management System policy, procedures or work instructions and understands the potential consequences of departure of the requirement. Notify management of any observed or potential compliance issues or nonconformities.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices. Maintain all records as required and is familiar with the principles of the Food Safety Program. Inform the General Manager of any issues and understands the importance of product quality, integrity, safety, and legality
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or controls engineering required.
- Familiarity with developing detailed process flow diagrams, engineering drawings and schematics, and control logic diagrams desired.
- The ideal candidate will be:
- A highly motivated self-starter capable of balancing the demands of managing multiple projects while concurrently also supporting the day-to-day troubleshooting needs of the facility.
- Flexible and optimistic in their support of the changing needs of the facility.
- Able to work effectively as part of a cross-functional problem-solving team.
- Familiar with Excel and Auto Cad
