The Body Controls & System Test Team is looking for a Body Electronics System Test Engineer to join our organization. Our area is rapidly growing and is being transformed due to the adoption of software‑defined architecture. In the Body electronics system test space, we validate different customer‑facing features in functional areas like Vehicle Access, Digital Key, Vehicle Theft, Compartments & Closures, etc.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in the future technologies GM is introducing in the Body electronics/Mechatronics space.
Lead Body electronics feature, system and solution testing (manual and automated).
Create, manage, and complete Body electronics software feature/system/solution validation plans (Behavior Test specification, etc.).
Develop test methodologies to support new technology launch.
Lead test automation development and execution for relevant body controls products.
Lead and execute certification‑relevant activities for body electronics software features.
Collect data using advanced test equipment.
Analyze, review results and document failures via PRTS, Jira, etc.
Author validation reports (CG190, etc.).
Participate in Agile ceremonies (PI planning, DSU, etc.).
Lead system test issue resolution initiatives.
Lead best practices and process improvement initiatives.
Support regulatory and compliance‑relevant activities for body electronics software features.
Support program team reviews and demos.
Maintain communication with cross‑functional stakeholders.
Minimum of 3 years of experience with proven technical and professional skills in Engineering.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer/software engineering, or Computer Science.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in programming/scripting (Python, etc.).
Minimum of 3 years of experience with Test automation framework (Autobot, Autoval, etc.).
Minimum of 3 years of experience performing testing in multiple test environments (HIL, Vehicle, Virtual).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Software Integration testing/System Integration testing and/or Feature testing.
Valid US Driver License.
Master’s degree in electrical/computer/software engineering.
Experience with vehicle and bench validation at component or subsystem level.
Experience with data logging tools (Vehicle Spy, CANALYZER Tools, etc.).
Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) process and familiarity with Gherkin.
Experience with Git Hub, Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, Jira and other configuration management, version control and code quality tools.
Experience debugging software/electrical/HW issues.
Working knowledge of embedded software development using C, Matlab/Simulink and associated tools (Jira, DOORS, Rhapsody, etc.).
Quick to learn, ambitious, and willing to work hands‑on with GM’s vehicles and benches.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within multi‑disciplinary teams.
Self‑motivated with the ability to work with minimal direction.
This role is categorized as hybrid. The selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week or other frequency dictated by their manager. The selected candidate will be required to travel
