Position: Lean Materials Strategies Execution Engineer

Duration: 1 year contract possible extensions

Shift: 7:30am-3:30/4:00pm

Travel: Less than 50% - mainly to Southeast, MI and possibly Northern Ohio

(mainly day trips, possibility to stay the night – expenses paid for)

OT: Needs to be flexible – may have to work weekends if production is running

Pay Rate: $45-52/hr depending on years of experience

Must Haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related engineering field
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing plant environment, supporting production operations
  • Proven experience supporting the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of material handling and/or automation systems
  • Strong program and project management skills, including experience managing OEMs, tracking timelines, resolving issues, and overseeing budgets
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and successfully delivering complex manufacturing or capital projects
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills using structured methodologies (e.g., Red X, 7 Diamond, DMAIC)
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, Control Plans, material flow simulation tools, and manufacturing systems/automation controls
Summary

Insight Global is looking for an Execution Engineer in Warren, MI. The Lead LMS Execution Engineer is responsible for defining, leading, and delivering material flow strategies for Global Propulsions Systems New & Major programs. This role owns the end-to-end design and implementation of automated material storage and movement systems, including automated storage and movement using ASRS and AME solutions, ensuring alignment with program requirements, plant constraints, and operational efficiency targets.

This position defines and leads efficient, scalable, and automated material flow solutions that support successful program launches and ongoing operational excellence across manufacturing sites. This position plays a critical role in establishing optimized plant layouts, aisle networks, and material flow strategies that enable efficient operations, scalability, and successful program launches.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead LMS deliverables for new programs from concept through launch execution.
  • Define and execute material flow strategies aligned with program timing, cost, and operational targets.
  • Provide regular status updates, risks, and countermeasures to leadership through structured reviews (e.g., Launch Wall).
Material Flow & Layout Design
  • Develop and optimize plant layouts, including aisle networks, storage zones, and material flow paths.
  • Create and maintain Material Flow Maps integrating people, equipment, and material movement.
  • Ensure seamless end-to-end flow from receiving through production to shipping.
  • Lead the design, specification, procurement, and integration of:
    • ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems)
    • AGV/AMR (Automated Guided Vehicles / Autonomous Mobile Robots)
    • Partner with OEMs to ensure successful equipment delivery, installation, and commissioning.
Plan for Every Part (PFEP) & Storage Optimization
  • Provide leadership and input into the Plan for Every Part process.
  • Calculate and validate storage requirements (racking, floor space, dunnage).
  • Optimize space utilization, inventory staging, and material presentation.
Operational Efficiency & Cost Management
  • Define indirect labor requirements in partnership with Global Supply Chain (GSC).
  • Optimize material handling efficiency, operating cost, and floor space usage.
  • Identify and implement innovative material handling solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with:
    • Manufacturing Engineering (CME Execution)
    • Plant Operations and Launch Teams
    • Global Supply Chain (GSC)
  • Ensure alignment across functions to support efficient plant operations and launch readiness.
  • Analyze material flow, congestion, and system performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Capture and implement lessons learned; share best practices across sites.
  • Support development of metrics, standardized work, and operational playbooks.
