Overview
At BWI we are looking for a Controls Engineer for our Warren, MI plant.
Responsibilities- Support the maintenance department by assisting in equipment issues, including ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors.
- Maintain documentation upon receipt from equipment suppliers and an archive of programs and machine controls drawings in electronic and/or paper format.
- Maintain, repair and improve automated equipment including devices, I/O, instruments and all other components associated with automated processes to meet production and safety goals.
- Support various I/O devices including HMI, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, etc., and assist maintenance personnel in pneumatic circuits.
- Improve equipment uptime and contribute to plant reliability maintenance.
- Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs on a set schedule and develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs.
- Diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems.
- Apply knowledge of electronic and instrumentation principles to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operation.
- Implement and maintain a data collection system from plant floor processing equipment. Identify and implement error-proofing requirements throughout the production process.
- Be part of a multidisciplinary plant team to determine continuous improvement strategies.
- Identify and plan for process impacts as a result of engineering and launch changes.
- Participate in 8D or similar root-cause-based problem solving tasks to ensure abnormalities are addressed to resolve root causes.
- Contribute to specifications for equipment purchases, including review and commentary on equipment controls drawings prior to build approval.
- Degree in Engineering/Electrical field preferred, or equivalent additional experience
- 5-7 years related Controls Engineering manufacturing experience; automotive experience preferred
- Allen-Bradley PLC experience is a must
