Dimensional Engineer

The Role

We are looking for a self‑driven individual with GD&T experience (creating and interpreting) who can act as a resource for the Engineering teams within GM Defense.

• Define GD&T criteria for vehicle components and sub‑systems.
• Assist suppliers in understanding and utilizing GD&T to set up part qualification systems.
• Support DREs in developing high‑quality parts and sub‑systems using engineering tools and processes.
• Operate independently, implementing functional strategy and communicating it to the broader Engineering Team.
• Provide expert judgment and analysis on future products.
• Coach and lead suppliers for timely program execution.
• Resolve sophisticated technical issues and conduct advanced research.
• Recommend alterations to design and development to improve product or procedural quality.
• Perform multiple tasks, demonstrating creativity and latitude.

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of component and sub‑system GD&T design/release.
• Knowledge of high‑ and low‑volume manufacturing processes.
• GD&T knowledge related to part inspection criteria and manufacturability.
• Build‑process troubleshooting experience.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Professional interaction with suppliers and vendors.
• Demonstrated ability to solve design/manufacturing issues quickly within a multi‑functional team.
• Efficient meeting facilitation using Global Product Group guidelines.
• Ability to resolve engineering issues, present at multi‑functional meetings and track to implementation.
• Must be a U.S. Person or eligible for export‑control authorization.

The position is hybrid; the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week and travel less than 25 %.
