Design Release Engineer - Interior Components

Job Summary

As a Hard Trim and Overhead Systems DRE, you will be responsible for developing and integrating hard trim and overhead components into the vehicle interior.

• Hard Trim components

Lead and drive a cross-functional product development team:

• Interior Restraints Systems
• Body Systems
• CCC Overhead and Hard Trim components
• Electrical System
• HVAC System
• Cargo Management System

• Creative Design
• Purchasing
• Manufacturing
• Quality
• Suppliers

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (mechanical preferred)

• 3 or more years of DRE experience developing and executing technical solutions for injection molded and/or compression molded interior components
• Knowledge of plastic materials, compression molding, and injection molding
• Experience resolving ergonomic issues related to hard trim or overhead systems at a vehicle OEM
• Balancing business imperatives, including cost, mass, complexity, and timing
• Comfort working with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams
• Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and rapid change in a results-driven environment
• Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and GD&T

• Previous DRE experience
• Familiarity with structured problem solving methods such as:
  • Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) – Green belt certification or higher
  • Red-X
