Design Engineer 5

Our client, an automotive company, is looking for a Design Engineer 5 for their Warren, MI location.

Responsibilities:

• Exhibits a safety mindset while identifying, taking ownership and resolving safety concerns
• Develops digital armatures for physical models throughout the GVDP
• Supports studio personnel in the development of solutions to engineering and design challenges
• Responsible for creating digital models which meet design approval, engineering criteria requirements, and data release standards
• Fundamental understanding of program timelines and related model quality requirements
• Adheres to common client global design processes/best practices
• Attends appropriate program related meetings as defined by Sculpting Leadership
• Performs fundamental assessment of model build quality for studio properties
• Adheres to corporate data management processes (Team Center, SharePoint etc.) and communication systems (timekeeping, email etc.)

Requirements:

• Demonstrates the courage to make the changes that will improve the organization and helps others overcome their resistance to change
• Intermediate level of digital proficiency
• Proficient in the use of NX software or other digital modeling equipment
• Ability to interpret design requests and to translate the input into 3D models
• Can successfully incorporate engineering criteria into a property build
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
• Good oral and written communications skills
• Functional knowledge in the use of current office software (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.)
• Seeks opportunities for innovation by executing on latest ideas and implementing continuous improvement initiatives

Candidate Requirements:

• Education Level: Bachelors preferred or equivalent years of experience
• 2-4 years minimum
• Top 3 must-have hard skills:
• 3D surfacing
• Team Center experience
• Basic knowledge of vehicle config, groundline system and occupants
