Service Area and Residence

The EE role is hybrid remote/in-office, based in either of Sil Man’s offices in Warren, Michigan, or Tupelo, Mississippi, to support Sil Man’s national footprint.

Travel

Travel will be required for this role, including, but not limited to, project sites, factory training, installation inspections, and system commissioning. Travel is not expected to exceed 35% annually.

What Does the Electrical Estimator Do?

The EE is responsible for defining the scope for electrical installation projects. Working from conceptual layouts, equipment lists, and customer discussions, the estimator develops installation concepts, determines required electrical infrastructure, and prepares comprehensive project estimates.

  • Respond to customer RFQs and prepare estimates for industrial electrical installation projects
  • Review equipment layouts, specifications, and customer discussions to define project requirements.
  • Develop electrical installation scopes from conceptual customer requirements where complete electrical drawings do not exist.
  • Collaborate with customers, project managers, and engineering teams to establish the basis of design for installation projects.
  • Determine power distribution, motor control, conduit, cable tray, wiring, grounding, and field installation requirements.
  • Create Bill of Materials and labor estimates
  • Identify scope gaps, assumptions, and engineering considerations during the quotation process.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and interpret drawings, specifications, technical documentation, as well as RFP/RFQ documentation
  • Excel / Spreadsheet proficiency
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, components, installation methods, and relevant codes/standards (e.g., NEC).
  • Familiarity with PLC systems, particularly Allen-Bradley Control Logix platforms (understanding architecture, components, and estimating associated costs).

And hands-on experience and understanding with the following:

  • 120/208 V, 277/480 V AC power systems
  • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Raceway and conduit systems
  • NEC code compliance
  • Electrical takeoffs and labor estimating
  • Vendor and subcontractor quotation management
  • Electrical installation in industrial manufacturing/construction environments
