Overview
The Controller is accountable for the accounting operations of Eagles Nest Golf Club. This includes preparing financial reports and budgets; maintaining records; ensuring controls; and cash management. The Controller is responsible for the accuracy of financial results and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The Controller will report to the CFO of York Major Holdings, a related company operating from the same location.
Responsibilities- Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Oversee the operations of the accounting team, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
- Manage outsourced functions such as IT
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner with reasonable discounts taken
- Ensure that event deposits and accounts receivable are collected promptly
- Ensure that periodic bank and other general ledger reconciliations are completed. This includes inventory, gratuities, deferred revenue, accrued liabilities, and others.
- Maintain updates and licenses for various software and credit card vendors
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Provide financial analyses as needed
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual review
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings
- The position is hands-on and the candidate will be directly engaged in the accounting activities in addition to reviewing the work of the accounting team
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 7+ years of progressively responsible experience. Small business experience is an asset due to the scope of duties.
