About the OpportunityWe’re partnering with an automotive aluminum extrusion manufacturer seeking a Corporate Controller in Michigan. This is a strong opportunity for a manufacturing finance leader who wants visibility, ownership, and the chance to work closely with an approachable executive team. The company serves both Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive customers and has a strong promote‑from‑within culture, low salaried turnover, and a leadership team described as collaborative, close‑knit, and supportive.
The role will sit above the Plant Controller, Assistant Controller, and Treasurer, with additional interaction across multiple facilities. This is a fit for someone who can bring structure, accuracy, and leadership across accounting, financial reporting, cash management, internal controls, audits, and employee benefit programs.
You’ll lead core accounting and financial functions while partnering closely with leadership across corporate and plant operations.
Key areas of focus include:
- Manage the Accounting and Payroll department
- Prepare, analyze, and present annual budgets and monthly/annual financial statements
- Develop and maintain general accounting and cost determination systems
- Lead accounting staff across general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Support quarterly and annual payroll filings with state, federal, and regulatory agencies
- Partner with outside firms on audits, tax filings, and financial packages
- Oversee cash management, cash forecasting, capital expenditures, and daily cash balances
- Support internal controls and increased reporting requirements
- Administer profit sharing and 401(k) plans
- Partner with HR on employee insurance policies and contracts
- Support systems, software, and hardware planning as needed
You are a steady, experienced finance leader who understands manufacturing and knows how to balance detail, deadlines, and business partnership. You are comfortable working with plant teams, corporate leadership, and outside partners. You bring strong technical accounting knowledge, but also the communication style needed to lead people, support operations, and build trust across the organization. You would do well here if you are hands‑on, organized, approachable, and ready to step into a role with meaningful visibility across the business.
Preferred Experience & Attributes- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- 10 years of experience with a manufacturing company
- Strong accounting, payroll, budgeting, and financial reporting experience
- Experience managing accounting teams and financial processes
- Knowledge of cash management, tax, audits, internal controls, and financial statements
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll administration
- Knowledge of employee benefit programs, insurance, profit sharing, and 401(k) plans
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work with corporate and plant‑level teams
- Ability to travel between company locations as needed
This role is important because it connects financial leadership, operational support, and stronger reporting structure across the organization. As parent company involvement and reporting requirements increase, the Corporate Controller will help ensure accuracy, consistency, and strong financial discipline across the business. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who wants to step into a stable company, work with approachable leadership, and make an impact across multiple finance functions.
For a manufacturing finance leader who values autonomy, collaboration, and long‑term stability, this is a strong next step.
