Position: Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist with Security Clearance
Duties
* Reviews new environmental regulations, laws and policies, in order to monitor impact on mission and operations.
* Implements plans, policies, directives and guidance required for the effective execution of the environmental program.
* Ensures implementation of internal and external environmental awareness and ethics among personnel.
* Reviews plans, projects and proposed actions for environmental impacts prior to execution.
* Conducts special studies and projects related to pollution prevention, contamination cleanup, and environmental quality improvements.
* Attend conferences and meetings with representatives of HQ, IMA, Federal, DA/DoD, other installations, as well as concerned parties on matters pertaining to environmental programs. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
* Michigan Hazardous Material Certification must be obtained within 6 months of Entrance on Duty.
* Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
* A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
* This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic;

religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves the following: develop policies and procedures for solutions to unique environmental issues; oversee protocols that implement Federal, State, and local laws/guidelines to ensure compliance; analyze environmental programs to ensure effectiveness; provide procedures for control and disposal of hazardous items and develop requirements for inclusion into operating and maintenance manuals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
