Job Summary:
The IT Specialist is a blend of technical, server and network support, requiring the ability to troubleshoot end-user, server and network issues. This position will be responsible for setting up and maintaining servers, workstations and the network. Additional duties include monitoring for and troubleshooting potential issues with the environment and system patching. The IT Specialist will oversee and participate in all operational activities, including network system administration, capacity planning, network performance, data and network security as well as backup and restores.
This position requires strong communication and technical skills, as well as the ability to be adaptable and troubleshoot problems.
- Install, upgrade, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot end-user hardware and software.
- Responsible for managing user Identity systems. Assist non-IT employees with any technical issues and data transfers.
- Build, Maintain and Support Physical and Virtual Servers Environments:
Ubuntu Linux and Proxmox, and Windows Server. - Oversee all network activity, systems administration, backup, restoration and capacity planning:
Ubiquiti - Develop and implement Server maintenance standard operating procedures
- Manages the implementation of new technologies and consults on application projects to ensure the application is utilizing the technology appropriately and ensure the application will integrate into the infrastructure.
- Provide data and network security
- Keep upper management informed with regular reports
- Administer Active Directory and Office 365 Tenant.
- Maintain support and compliance to the NIST / CMMC System Security Plan (SSP) for the Defense Business Unit.
- Participate as the IT liaison for the business unit in the Defense leadership stand up.
- Partner and provide team support with the Cybersecurity Analyst for the business unit.
- Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems
- U.S. Citizen allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance.
- Progressive IT experience with at least 5 years of experience planning, installing, supporting, securing, and maintaining networks, servers, and cloud environments.
- Experience with capacity planning and performance monitoring techniques and tools
- Ability to solve complicated problems and deal with a variety of variable situations.
- Progressive IT experience with 7 years of experience planning, installing, supporting, securing, and maintaining networks, servers, and cloud environments.
- Experience NIST 800-171 and CMMC compliance.
- Security and/or Server certifications
- Must be able to act as a technical resource and participate for system/network projects and knowledge of back up.
- Understanding and proficiency with SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage), Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) concepts and configurations such as routing, cabling, VPN (Virtual Private Network), and ISPs (Internet Service Providers) options and capabilities.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN and WAN to troubleshoot and address server issues.
- Knowledgeable on firewalls, proxy and databases to keep the network and user information secure.
- Ability to create scripts (VBScript, Power Shell, Perl, PHP and/or Python)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors and team members.

Experience:
Windows Server, Windows Desktop, and Ubuntu Linux. - Experience in the following solutions:
Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra . - Willingness to learn any tools or skills that are unfamiliar.
- Knowledge on how to maintain security on all workstations, servers, switches, firewalls, and other related devices.
- Knowledge on how to maintain full system and procedure documentation.
- Working knowledge of the following tools:
Proxmox, Ceph.io, Debian, Cisco Global Protect, FlexLM, Fog (Imaging)
