Location:
Hybrid – Any Consumers Energy Service Center in Lower Michigan (Jackson, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Royal Oak, Livonia, Saginaw, Bay City, etc.)
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday onsite | Wednesday and Friday remote
Duration: Until Jul 2027 (with a possibility of extension)
Overview- Our client is seeking a Sourcing Manager to join its growing Supply Chain team supporting various business units, including Electric, Gas, Generation, IT, and Corporate Functions
. Due to increased business demands and major infrastructure initiatives, including data center projects, the team is expanding and looking for procurement professionals with sourcing and contracting experience. - This role is responsible for managing sourcing activities, supporting contract negotiations, facilitating procurement processes, and ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
- Manage sourcing activities and procurement processes for assigned business units.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to support organizational objectives.
- Prepare and manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs),
Requests for Information (RFIs), and other sourcing events. - Lead supplier evaluations and participate in contract negotiations.
- Review, draft, and administer contracts and related documentation.
- Coordinate contract routing and obtain necessary approvals and signatures.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and procurement needs.
- Maintain procurement records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Utilize ERP systems, such as SAP
, to manage procurement activities and reporting. - Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal business partners.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Supply Chain organization.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Procurement, Supply Chain Management
, or a related field. - 2-4 years of sourcing or procurement experience.
- Experience with contract management and contract negotiations
. - Understanding of contract structures and terms and conditions
. - Experience routing contracts and documents for approvals and signatures.
- Knowledge of procurement processes including RFPs, RFIs, and supplier evaluations
. - Experience working with ERP systems (SAP or similar).
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Utility industry experience (Electric, Gas, Energy, or Infrastructure).
- Professional certifications such as:
- CPP – Certified Purchasing Professional
- CPSM – Certified Professional in Supply Management
- CPM – Certified Purchasing Manager
- Experience with:
- Project Management methodologies
- ITIL
- COBIT
- ITSM frameworks
- Round 1: 30-minute virtual interview – Resume walkthrough and introductory discussion.
- Round 2: 30-minute virtual interview – Technical and behavioral discussion.
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.
- Candidates will initially travel to Jackson, MI for training during the first few weeks until fully onboarded and comfortable with the role.
- Strong potential for contract extension based on performance and business needs.
