Position: Parts Department Manager (RV)

Parts Department Manager

This is a department manager role at an RV dealership in the Metro Detroit area, overseeing all aspects of parts operations in support of an active service department. The position sits at the intersection of inventory management, customer communication, and internal coordination with service advisors, and is well-suited for someone with hands-on experience running a parts department at an RV or powersports dealership.

Full-time, in-person at the Warren, MI location. Specific days and hours to be confirmed with the employer.

$60,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience.

What You'll Do

The Parts Department Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation and profitability of the parts department. This includes maintaining accurate inventory levels, proactively ordering parts ahead of service needs, pre-pulling parts for next-day jobs, and processing incoming shipments. You will manage bin checks, cycle counts, and inventory updates in the dealer management system, and ensure parts are organized so they are easily identifiable and accessible to technicians.

A core function of the role is communication. You will coordinate with service advisors and the service manager several days in advance to review upcoming work orders, communicate parts delays and order status to both internal teams and customers, and respond to customer inquiries by phone, email, and text in a timely manner. You will document all parts accurately on work orders for billing, track lost sales and back-orders, and process warranty parts retrieval and returns within required timelines.

You will also manage pricing to ensure healthy department margins, minimize obsolete inventory, and maintain parts security. The department's P&L responsibility falls within this role, and you will be expected to demonstrate consistent improvement in inventory accuracy and fill rate over time.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of parts department management experience at an RV dealership
  • Demonstrated ability to manage inventory, cycle counts, and parts ordering in a dealer management system
  • Experience documenting parts on work orders and processing warranty claims
  • Familiarity with parts pricing strategy and margin management
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain a well-structured parts room
  • Clear and professional communication skills with both internal teams and retail customers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with RV-specific parts systems or DMS platforms (Lightspeed, IDS, or comparable)
  • Background coordinating parts operations alongside a high-volume service department
  • Familiarity with OEM warranty parts return procedures for RV manufacturers
  • Experience managing obsolete inventory reduction programs

$60,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid vacation
  • 401(k) availability to be confirmed with employer
