Position: Machine Builder I

Overview

Machine Builder I - Sterling Heights, Michigan. Day shift Contract position. Standard start time: 6:00am Monday through Saturday. Pay Rate: up to $27.00 per hour (based on proven work history).

Responsibilities
  • Able to competently work on their own with minimal direction. High to mid-level skill with medium complexity projects. Solid knowledge base. Ensure quality of work largely meets expectations.
  • Proficient in common build practices for Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors.
  • Assist project team in solving project concerns/issues. Follow installation of equipment during all phases from build to customer’s plants.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and rules. Meet scheduled deadlines and maintain open issues. Understand and follow safety & environmental regulations and identify safety/environmental concerns.
  • Understand how to read/use project timelines. Adhere to the Quality System and participate in continuous improvement. Maintain regular and predictable attendance as an essential function.
  • Update E-BOM summary weekly and provide to Mechanical Supervisor. Verify conformance of parts to BOM and blueprints.
  • Have basic welding skills. Have own tools and PPE. Proficient at rigging and crane operations. Ensure a clean work area.
Educational Requirements

Educational Requirements of the Machine Builder I: One-year certification from college or technical school; 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment is described as typical; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
