If you understand the plastics industry and are mechanically inclined, and can work well with others, this position is for you! The main function of this job is to set up, review, adjust and troubleshoot automation and secondary equipment. This position establishes, documents, and improves processes, ensuring safe, efficient, and repeatable production. The technician plays a vital role in maintaining equipment performance, supporting product quality, and collaborating with engineering teams to drive continuous improvement.
GeneralDuties
- Authorize and implement changes to processes or equipment to improve efficiency, quality and safety.
- Halts any production run that creates an unsafe condition or produces out of specification parts.
- Ensure work instructions, process documentation and setup sheets are accurate, complete, and accessible.
- Verify technical data, CAD files, and engineering drawings for manufacturability and adherence to specifications.
- Participate as required in product, tooling and secondary equipment design reviews to ensure manufacturability.
- Support manufacturing engineers and program managers, ensuring supplies are maintained and re‑ordered.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with data driven results.
- Hands‑on technical skills with robotics, automation and secondary equipment.
- Experience working with low voltage direct current electrical components.
- Some PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) knowledge and/or experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, prints and schematics.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams.
- Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- Ability to use CAD for fixture and process‑related design work.
- Ability to operate machine tools as required for secondary equipment.
- Ability to use Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- At least 3 years of hands‑on experience with plastic injection molding.
