This role reports directly to the Machine Shop Manager at our Atlas Copco-Grayling, MI facility. You will have the opportunity to assist with various CNC Machine shop department tasks and learn about the overall production process – all while learning the trade!

• Run various machine shop grinders/sanders to debur or prep machined parts
• Complete shop clean‑up duties; floor, emptying of debris bins, lubricant changes, etc.
• Assist a CNC Machinist with part change‑outs
• Receive mentee guidance from an experienced CNC Machinist to begin to learn set‑up parameters, do’s and don’ts of milling, etc.
• Learn about Shop Safety Best Practices and Procedures
• Learn to read blueprints and quality inspect parts
• Move product within and across buildings
• Other duties as assigned to help the Machining department with tasks, as well as facilitate learning
• Schedule:
  
  Due to current workload, work schedule expectations are Monday through Friday (some Saturdays) – 45-55 hours per week. This is subject to change at any time and at manager discretion.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  Experience:
  
  Basic understanding and knowledge of hand tools and how to read/use a tape measure.
• CNC
  
  Experience:
  
  Preferred hands‑on experience or CNC Machinist student – preferably ready to start final year of degree or certificate program.
• Basic Computer
  
  Skills:
  
  Good working knowledge of computers.
• Desire to Learn New Things: Willingness to take on various duties in the Machining department, even if not directly related to running a machine.
