Fabrication, Welder / MIG/MAG/TIG
Full-time Experienced Fabrication Welder who will be responsible for fabricating, cutting, welding, and assembling metal components to support construction, electrical, industrial, and manufacturing projects. The Fabrication Welder will work closely with shop leadership, Field Operations, Project Managers, and other team members to ensure fabricated materials meet project requirements, quality standards, safety expectations, drawings, and specifications.
Depending on experience level, the Fabrication Welder may be responsible for layout, fit-up, welding, material preparation, equipment operation, and quality checks for fabricated assemblies. Knowledge of structural steel, supports, brackets, frames, racks, cable tray supports, skids, and custom fabrication is beneficial. Shop and field fabrication experience is a plus.
- Perform welding, fabrication, layout, fitting, cutting, grinding, drilling, and assembly of metal components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, specifications, weld symbols, and work orders.
- Fabricate supports, brackets, frames, racks, stands, assemblies, and other custom metal components.
- Perform MIG, TIG, Stick, and/or Flux-Cored welding as required by the project.
- Measure, cut, fit, and prepare materials to meet drawing and project requirements.
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated assemblies for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
- Operate fabrication tools and equipment including saws, grinders, drills, torches, plasma cutters, presses, and welding machines.
- Assist with material handling, staging, loading, unloading, and organization of fabricated materials.
- Coordinate with shop supervision, Field Operations, and Project Managers to meet project schedules and quality expectations.
- Identify and resolve fabrication issues, drawing conflicts, material shortages, and fit-up problems.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and proper use of PPE.
- Perform quality checks and make adjustments or repairs as needed.
- Support field crews with fabricated components and special project requirements.
- Assist with layout drawings, field measurements, and as-built fabrication needs when required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Welding certification preferred; AWS certification is a plus.
- Minimum three to five years of welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Experience in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or electrical construction fabrication is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.
- Experience with MIG welding required; TIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored welding experience preferred.
- Ability to accurately use tape measures, squares, levels, calipers, and other measuring tools.
- Knowledge of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other common fabrication materials is beneficial.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Ability to work under time constraints and adapt to changing project requirements with a positive attitude.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and workmanship.
- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Ability to interact professionally with supervisors, peers, field crews, suppliers, customers, and other project stakeholders.
- Forklift, overhead crane, rigging, or material handling experience is a plus.
- Must be able to stand, bend, lift, carry, and work safely in a fabrication shop environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
