CNC Lathe Programmer

This role focuses on programming and operating CNC Mazak lathes in a dynamic job shop environment where no two jobs are the same. You will take ownership of parts from start to finish, working with primarily steel materials to produce precision tooling for applications such as cold header and fastener machines, construction, and aerospace. The position requires hands-on expertise in Mazatrol programming, tight-tolerance machining, and prototype or job shop work.

Job Responsibilities

• Program Mazatrol controllers from scratch for CNC Mazak lathes, ensuring efficient and accurate machining processes
• Perform complete machine setups, including installing and adjusting tooling, setting tool offsets, and preparing the machine for production
• Run CNC lathes from start to finish, overseeing all aspects of machining operations for each job
• Perform tool changes and adjust offsets as needed to maintain part quality and process stability
• Interpret and work from detailed blueprints, ensuring all parts meet specified dimensions and tolerances
• Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gages to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy
• Machine primarily steel materials while consistently holding tight tolerances required for tooling and precision components

Essential Skills

• At least 6+ years of experience as a CNC machinist working on Mazak lathes.
• Proven ability to program Mazatrol controllers from scratch without relying on existing programs.
• Hands-on experience setting up CNC lathes, including tool changes, offsets, and running the machine from start to finish.
• Strong blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications.
• Ability to use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gages accurately.
• Demonstrated capability to machine primarily steel materials while holding tight tolerances.
• Background in prototype or job shop machining rather than high-volume production environments.
• Experience working with Mazak machines and Mazatrol programming.
• Proficiency in machining on 3-axis equipment.

This is a permanent position based out of Warren, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
