This is a 32-bed General Practice Unit that provides care for adult patients with stable, low-acuity medical needs that do not require intensive monitoring. The unit focuses on assessment, treatment, and recovery for a variety of general medical conditions such as infectious disease work up and treatment, COPD, GI bleeds, Peritonitis, chemo side effects, Pneumonia, etc.
Staff work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, patient-centered care, emphasizing strong communication, clinical judgment, and patient education. This unit is ideal for nurses seeking to build broad medical experience while working in a structured, team-oriented setting.
General SummaryProvides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team. Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.
- Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family.
- Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team.
- Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.
- Acts as a patient advocate while utilizing the nursing process to plan, deliver, and evaluate goal focused, individualized, safe, age specific care for all patients including those with complex pathophysiological needs and/or psychosocial needs.
- BSN preferred
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans
- Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
- Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
