Overview
The registered nurse will perform direct patient/resident care and delegation to patient care technicians in providing care and comfort to the residents. Knowledge and compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and guidelines relating to facility care will be maintained.
Temporary full‑time position expected to last up to 20 weeks. No benefits are associated with the position but there will be incentive pay.
Seeking an RN experienced in wound care to work at My Michigan Health's Wound Treatment Centers in West Branch and Gladwin. Schedule will be dictated by clinic needs; the RN will work ambulatory hours.
Responsibilities- Regularly assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed.
- Provide direct resident care: medication administration, treatments, call lights, assisting with transfers, responding to alarms.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment plan and collaborate with the team to update it.
- Process physician orders and perform ordered care accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow up on medication changes and order clarifications.
- Interpret information and reports pertinent data to the physician.
- Assess learning needs, provide education, and participate in care conferences.
- Maintain good rapport with interdisciplinary personnel.
- Coordinate care provided by patient care technicians.
- Organize and prioritize patient needs, manage assignments, and perform routine duties.
- Instruct team members, implement clinical procedures, and demonstrate understanding of clinical pathways.
- Document accurately and share significant findings with the team.
- Participate in regulatory surveys and performance‑improvement activities, and assist with orientation.
- Provide a safe environment and maintain current professional standards.
- Assist with central line and chest tube insertion and care.
- Insert and provide care for various tubes (nasogastric, feeding, IV, gastrostomy), maintain suprapubic catheters, drains, wound packing, central venous pressure monitoring, PCA use, doppler pulses, heparin protocols, splints, casts, and prosthetic precautions.

Registered Nurse
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing required;
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Experience in wound care and orthopedic/general surgical patients.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to facility care.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows.
- Physical ability to lift 21–50 lbs as required; capable of standing, walking, and performing postural changes as needed.
- Exposure to stressful situations, trauma, grief, and death.
- Wear personal protective equipment, including latex materials or substitutes.
- Ability to move freely with or without an assistive device; perform standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and follow required testing.
- Handle multiple tasks, maintain attendance, stay alert, and use dexterity for repetitive movements.
- Physical demand level: medium.
