Full‑Time Nurse Assistant – Stepdown – Days shift (36 hours per week). Eligible for full‑time benefits.
Shift: Days 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, alternating weekend schedule.
General SummaryUnder the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient‑care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of patients. Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education. Follows Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.
PrincipleDuties & Responsibilities
- Maintain effective, professional, and appropriate communication during all patient, family encounters and healthcare team member interactions.
- Identify concerns related to patients, staff, and self, and communicate with the responsible RN.
- Assist the RN in admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to patients’ comfort and privacy; engage in patient care; answer patient questions and explain procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with HFHS standards.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies and alarms, immediately communicating situations to appropriate persons.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and unit care data.
- Document patient care provided.
- Perform general clerical duties as assigned.
- Provide personal care assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, comfort, and transportation.
- Make necessary supply deliveries to patient rooms and ancillary departments.
- Perform other related duties as required within the scope of practice.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- CNA preferred.
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (e.g., Patient Care Technician or Patient Assistant Technician).
- OR May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
- OR Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license.
- OR Medical Assistant program with or without experience.
- OR At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions- Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies and equipment.
- Work in patient‑care environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, hazardous gases.
- Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies and equipment.
