Customer Service​/Sales

Overview

Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. They learn about products using our tools, and provide information to customers in order to sell an entire project. Associates learn how to greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department, and know how to handle basics in adjacent departments.

They maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas, and ensure it is clean, shop-able, and safe. They follow safety policies & standards, complete safety training, immediately correct hazards or report conditions to the Manager on Duty, and work safely to avoid endangering themselves, coworkers, vendors, or customers. They work in cooperation with their Department Supervisor and other department colleagues across store areas.

Specific store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

• Greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department and assist with basics in adjacent departments.
• Learn product information using tools and provide accurate information to help customers select appropriate solutions for their projects.
• Maintain in-stock conditions and ensure areas are clean, organized, shop-able, and safe.
• Follow all safety policies and standards; complete required safety training; promptly correct hazards or report unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty.
• Collaborate with the Department Supervisor and other store departments to support customer needs and store operations.
• Support various store departments as needed (e.g., Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, Tool Rental).
