Retail Shift Leader

Responsibilities

• Provide quick and friendly guest service to guests within the car wash.
• Oversee all aspects of the site.
• Retain and create new customer relations.
• Maintain units, grounds, and car wash facilities.
• Open and close the wash.
• Maintain maintenance logs, inventory, and reports as needed.
• Communicate good news, bad news, and breakdowns with the Assistant and Site Leader.
• Implement and enforce policies, procedures, and the employee handbook for all team members.
• Work with the Assistant Manager and General Manager to ensure all site responsibilities are complete.
• Update, maintain, and add tasks, and ensure proper completion of the hourly checklist.
• Maintain and refill detergent and wash supplies.
• Enforce wash cleaning list, oversee wash cleaning, and draw attention to any required maintenance.
• Maintain awareness of chemical titrations and volumetrics.
• First point of contact for guest relation issues.
• Properly handle wash issues before escalating.
• Report daily highlights of team members, equipment, and sales.
• Perform daily and preventative maintenance of wash equipment.
• Be able to work opening, mid, and closing shifts on a weekly basis.
• Ensure every team member in Flight Deck 1 is executing proper dialogue.
• Assist in managing the team and developing relationships.
• Follow checklists and provide team accountability.
• Any additional tasks that benefit the company and care for the guests.
• Train new team members and franchisees on Flight Deck 1, Flight Deck 2, Loader, Wash Tech, and Vacuum Concierge hourly positions.
• Train new team members and franchisees through the Proficiencies Acquired Credentialing book.
• Train new team members on awareness and safety procedures.
• Opportunities to travel and train staff at Tommys locations.
• Other duties as assigned; duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Willingness to work hard, build relationships, and love people.
• Proficiency in all opening and closing tasks.
• The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

This position can be either part‑time or full‑time. Part‑time team members typically work 16‑24 hours per week, and full‑time team members 30‑40 hours per week. The role requires weekend shifts.

Car wash operating hours are Monday through Sunday from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. This role routinely operates in all areas of the facility, including both indoor and outdoor work.

• Work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery.
• Effectively communicate, detect, converse, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information.
• Move equipment weighing up to 30‑50 pounds.
• Work and commute in all weather conditions.
• Walk, bend, twist, turn, stoop, climb steps, reach with hands, and use fingers.

Travel is not required for this position.
