Duties
* Supervises and directs Security Guards and Lead Security Guards during assigned shifts.
* Evaluates employee performance and provides coaching and counseling.
* Conducts interviews and recommends hiring, promotions, awards, and disciplinary actions.
* Plans and coordinates daily guard force operations.
* Ensures implementation of emergency plans and continuity of security operations.
* Adjusts workloads and personnel assignments to meet mission requirements.
* Oversees mandatory training and professional development for guard personnel.
* Protects personnel, government property, and sensitive resources.
* Enforces installation access control for personnel and vehicles.
* Directs patrol operations in restricted and controlled access areas.
* Operates and oversees electronic security and intrusion detection systems.
* Responds to emergencies, disturbances, and criminal incidents.
* Determines appropriate response to perceived threats and unusual situations.
* Conducts inspections of weapons, equipment, and sensitive items to ensure accountability.
* Briefs personnel on laws, regulations, policies, and security procedures.
* Coordinates with law enforcement agencies, installation leadership, and other organizations. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
* This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
* This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
* This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
* The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. Loss of license may result in removal from the position.
* This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
* This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
* Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
* This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
* This position requires the employee to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
* Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
* Employee will be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program.
* Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
* A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
* Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
* Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability.
* Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
